Actuarial Science Scholarships
There are many opportunities for actuarial science majors to earn extra financial aid and scholarships. A listing of many of the scholarships available to RMU applicants can be found here. In addition to these there are several special actuarial scholarships that are particularly noteworthy.
Highmark Presidential Actuarial Scholarship
Each year one incoming freshman will be selected for the Highmark Presidential Scholarship, which will cover the full tuition cost at RMU, renewable for up to four years, provided the recipient remains in good standing. The primary purpose of the scholarship is to broaden the diversity of the actuarial science study body, and preference will be granted on that basis.
Among the criteria for selection are (a) being the first in family to attend college, (b) coming from a single-parent household, and (c) coming from an economically or educationally disadvantaged background. Candidates should have a minimum high-school GPA of at least 3.7, an SAT score of at least 670 on the mathematics section, and at least a 1270 on the math and verbal scores combined.
Actuarial Science Endowed Scholarship for Oustanding Achievement
The scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student of Robert Morris University majoring in Actuarial Science. To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must maintain a minimum of 3.75 GPA, demonstrate a capacity to pass professional actuarial exams, and demonstrate involvement in school or department activities. The award is intended only for those students not receiving full-tuition scholarships.
Scholarships Avaliable from the Actuarial Profession
There is also a wide range of financial aid available from the Actuarial Foundation and other professional sources. These range from programs for new students , scholarships to broaden diversity in the actuarial profession, and special awards for continuing students who have achieved exemplary records in college.
